Trip to Madeline Island

These pictures are from our recent trip to Madeline Island. The top pic is the front of a cafe called, "Tom's Burned Down Cafe" which is more of a bar than a cafe. The first time we were on the Island, my husband and I went there for a late breakfast at 11 am, and were informed that the only thing they had to eat was frozen pizza! That's all right, though, because the atmosphere more than makes up for their lack of food choices! The signs which are hanging all over the cafe could keep you entertained for hours. I'm a quote fan, so I was naturally enthralled.
On this trip, we were unable to stay there for long, but it was fun to visit it again. We stayed in a cabin with some friends of ours from church and had the kind of good time that one can have only when with the best of friends.
The bottom pic is of myself and my lovely husband, enjoying our ferry ride back to Bayfield, WI.

Oh, looks like a fun time :) What a funny story about the frozen pizza and what a good sport you are! It's neat seeing a pic of you and putting a face to a name and blogger personality. Happy Summer!

I'm glad you had a good time (it never seems too last long enough does it). It's great to finally see a pic of you! And pizza is the breakfast of champions.

Did they COOK the pizza? Or did you have to eat it frozen?

they cooked it, but the freezer it came out of was chained to the structure (since the whole place is open to the outside, they chain everything down, and the fridge and other appliances are padlocked shut.) all of which only adds to the ambiance (sincerely, I love it- no sarcasm)

Sometimes atmosphere can totally out weigh poor food. Sounds like you had a great trip. I love your photo of the ferry ride. I lived a very long time on Vancouver Island and had to take the ferry often. I miss it very much. Not many ferrys on the prairies where I live now. Oh well it was some happy memories.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I kinda wish they hadn't cooked it--that you'd had to gnaw on it raw.

Fun to see the photos!

Sounded you had fun island hopping.

The open-concept cafe is unique. Eating frozen pizza while reading the many interesting signs are definitely memorable.

The scenery around the island should be stunning! Share the photos will you?

You and your husband look perfect together. Is he a vegan as well?

Dan-
No, my hubby is carnivourous, and I'm not vegan, I'm lacto-ovo. I was vegan for 3 years, but, well...I'm from Wisconsin. Need I say more?!

Hi Mama! I am briefly looking at blogs on our getaway. I am in an internet cafe in San Carlos surrounded by pre-pubescent boys that are REALLY excited about their world of warcraft.
Awesome photos; makes me so homesick! I miss you..

I noticed I posted the same, but different picture from Mad. Island. Different sign, slightly different locale though at the same place and the same words. LOL. Wasn't trying to copy you on that one. Oops :-)

P.S. We got a kick out of the security cross through, the one to the right of Jason in that same pic.
